This 2-day instructor-led course provides hands-on practice in implementing a Disaster Recovery Strategies with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5. Bare Machine Recovery (BMR), is possible by using additional software, such as IBM Tivoli Storage  Manager for...products, the Microsoft Windows Automated System Recovery (ASR),  Cristie TBMR and Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN). 
This course will cover the integration of these software  products to create a total Disaster Recovery solution.

The course begins with installing the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 Server, backup/archive clients, api clients. Once the basic installation is complete, students gain practice with using the commands needed to install and configure IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for...products. Students create scripts for full and incremental database backups.  Students create simple storage pools and subsequently learn to configure hierarchies of storage pools. Manage IBM Tivoli Storage Manager policies that provide the rules to implement data management service level agreements. Students define new policy domains, policy sets, management classes, backup copy groups, and archive copy groups. Students backup databases and system disks and practise a total system recovery. Practice automating client operations by creating new IBM Tivoli Storage Manager schedules. To monitor client operations, students subsequently learn to configure and manage storage events.

This course is designed for System Administrators and Implementers who will perform a  hands-on implementation and/or administration of the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager  products  such as IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for...products and Cristie TBMR. Students  may be systems administrators/programmers, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager administrators,  consultants, or members of a disaster recovery team. System Administrators and  implementers who will be responsible for implementing an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager  5.5 BMR solutions with Windows 2003,  MS Exchange, Lotus Domino, MS SQL, TBMR
and Oracle.
